Weekly Regional Hay Market Update

Here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the Columbia Basin Hay report from last week.
Sanders: “We had a little over 6,100 tons trade compared to last Friday. Trade remains slow as most interests are doing feeder hay. Demand remains light and showers across portions of the area also slowed movement. Supreme dairy hay on delivery basis large square bales sold from $245 to $250. Fair feeder hay sold from $120 to $130 FOB. Alfalfa small square bales for retail and stable markets sold from $250 to $260 per ton. Orchard grass for retail and stable markets small square bales sold from $$250 to $275.
In Idaho compared to previous week, premium and good alfalfa continues to be weak. Trade was slow last week as areas of the trade area received thunderstorms. Alfalfa large square bales tarped and rated premium sold between $150 to $170 per ton. Alfalfa small squares rated premium sold for $220 per ton for retail and stable market.
In Oregon, prices trended generally steady in comparison to the previous week. Export sales continue to be slow but exinsistant. In Central Oregon, small square bales of alfalfa rated premium were sold between $240 and $250 per ton for the retail and stable market. In Eastern Oregon premium large square bales of alfalfa sold for $205 per ton. In Klamath Basin supreme organic large square alfalfa bales sold for $270 per ton. Harney County had no new sales confirmed.
