This July marks the fifth year that Idaho has had an annual Organic Week and across the state Idahoans will join together to celebrate the importance of organic producers, processors, and distributors in Idaho.

Idaho has over 230 organic operations that provide a diverse selection of products including vegetables, meat, and dairy products as well as non-food crops such as hay and barley. "Organic production is an important segment of Idaho agriculture that generates over 50 million dollars in sales," states Idaho State Department of Agriculture Director, Celia Gould. "I am excited to highlight the significance of organic agriculture in Idaho by celebrating Idaho Organic Week."

Idaho ranks in the top 15 in the nation for the production of several organic products including barley, hay, potatoes, grapes, beef, wheat, and oilseed.

Several producers, retailers, farms, and other organizations have joined ISDA in the effort to showcase Idaho's diverse organic products and highlight Idaho organic producers throughout the state. Organic advocates across Idaho are encouraged to celebrate the bounty of Idaho agriculture by shopping for organic products at your local farmers market, choosing Idaho organic products at restaurants and retailers near you, or by hosting your own special event or promotion.
