Dole and Kerry Both Named as HSUS Special Advisors

Recently on the Humane Society of the United States CEO Wayne Pucelle’s blog, he announced that Former U.S. senators Bob Dole of Kansas and Bob Kerrey of Nebraska have both become Special Advisors to the HSUS.
What are two Mid-West political leaders who understand agriculture doing signing up to serve with the HSUS? Have they been tricked? The Center for Consumer Freedom’s Director of Research Will Coggin says perhaps this announcement serves an ulterior motive with their anti-ag animal agenda.
Coggin: “What I have seen is that the HSUS took out two ads in the past two days in newspapers on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. What this seems to be is an effort from HSUS to try and rebrand itself as an moderate animal welfare group. Especially HSUS wants to make inroads with Republicans on Capitol Hill. That has been always been problem with them because naturally they have an anti-business agenda going up against Farm Bureau, and the NRA and other groups whether it is trying to shut down hunting or shut down farming and ranching. That is not going to win you many friends on the Hill — especially on the Republican side. So what I think is going on here is that HSUS is using Senator Dole to gain credibility with the right.”
Hopefully some of our farming and ranching friends in Kansas and Nebraska will enlighten the Senators that HSUS is a wolf attempting to disguised itself in mild, moderate sheep’s clothing.
