The 87th Colorado State FFA Convention Wraps Up

Last night was the closing of the 87th annual Colorado State FFA Convention. I caught up with my roving reporter and past Colorado State FFA Secretary and Convention Staff Snowy Schroeder yesterday for an update of how the Convention was going.
Schroeder: “A lot of things are going on. We started on Tuesday with LDE which are Leadership Development Events. We had parliamentary procedure, extemporaneous speaking, prepared speaking, quiz bowl. So members arrived to compete in all of their respective events. Then convention sessions started yesterday at 8 a.m. and they started gave out all of the awards that these deserving students received.”
Schroeder explains more about the process of electing the new State FFA officers.
Schroeder: “They were chosen on Tuesday - but nobody knows. What is really cool about Colorado FFA — I don’t think that any other states do it - but they do it at the National level. We choose our team on Tuesday and they actually overnight the jackets to the convention and then at the final session they give them their brand new jackets. So right then and there they have their association jackets and they are officially state officers.”
There were 19 FFA members competing to be on the State officer team.
Congratulations to not only the new state FFA officers — but all the state contest winners who will go on to compete in Louisville at the National Convention in October.
