WUSATA Meeting

WUSATA Meeting

WUSATA Meeting. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

Anyone wishing to get into the export game should mark this Friday on your calendar for the Western United States Agriculture Trade Association or WUSATA branded program seminar in Kennewick. Tricia Walker is the Branded Program Manager for WUSATA.

WALKER: What we would like to do is get the word out to any farmers, value added products, wineries, you know anything in the area who are interested in attending this seminar getting registered and getting them in front of us so we can tell them about the program.

The program according to Walker helps fresh/processed food companies learn how to utilize WUSATA's 50% reimbursement program for overseas promotional efforts. She says they hope to answer a lot of questions.

WALKER: A lot of the times it's very basic questions. Who are you? (laughs) What can you do for me? And from there as soon as we get in front of them and start telling them a little bit about the program we get more specific questions about country markets they are interested in or they'll say "I'm not exporting, I'm just sending my stuff to Canada." So things like that, explaining to them what exporting is, letting them know that they have a lot of people behind them that they may not know are there.

Registration for the event is due today so make sure you go to their website www.wusata.org and get registered. There's no registration at the door.

WALKER: Whether they're ready to export now, thinking about exporting or have been exporting there's something for everyone no matter where they're at.

That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
