Wine Grape Workshops

Wine Grape Workshops. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

If you have a stake in the wine industry you'll want to get signed up for a series of workshops being held at three different sites around the state. Washington Wine Industry Foundation's, Vicky Scharlau has more.

SCHARLAU: Based on industry input the Wine Industry Foundation sought a grant from the Unites States Department of Agriculture and we were awarded funds to put together workshops and outreach that focuses on reducing revenue losses for wine grape sales. Now you would think that would be only for grape growers but in fact the way this is put together the idea of these workshops is it's a hands on, how-to process. But it includes both growers and wineries and frankly even banks and insurance companies or anybody with a stake in grape sales and the health and sustainability of the wine grape industry in Washington.

Scharlau talks about the workshops in general.

SCHARLAU: So there's four different sessions over a two-day period of time. We wanted to pack them all in to give the growers and wineries in the state and opportunity to find the one that is most convenient. Wednesday, march 18th we'll be in Walla Walla in the morning and Pasco in the afternoon. On Thursday the 19th we'll be in Prosser in the morning and then Yakima in the afternoon.

There is a fee for registering and you can do so online at washingtonwinefoundation.org and click on "events."
