Fruit Shorts

Fruit Shorts. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

There are a number of short news stories happening in and around the tree fruit industry you might like to take note of.

If you are in the Wenatchee area today WSU—TFREC is holding a tasting of the new WA-38 apple from 10 to noon. There will be a brief update on commercialization, harvest and initial storage results but the highlight will be the sampling of the new apple now known as the Cosmic Crisp.

As most of us know Tim Smith has stepped down from his long-time position at WSU. His chair is currently open and there is an opportunity to meet the three candidates for the job; Nik Wiman, Melba Salazar and Sara "Tianna" Dupont. The interviews will be recorded in case you can't make either the Wednesday or Thursday events also being help in Wenatchee.

And some wine grape grower workshops are being help on the 18th and 19th of this month in Pasco, Prosser and in Yakima. The title of the workshop is "Reducing Losses on Wine Grape Sales Using UCC" and is being presented by Washington Wine Industry Foundation in partnership with USDA.

That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
