Down Day for Live and Feeder Cattle Tuesday

Down Day for Live and Feeder Cattle Tuesday

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for February 18, 2015.
Corn and wheat had slight gains Tuesday. Wheat closed 1/2 cent lower to 1 cent higher. From the floor of the CME Group, Scott Shellady shares his observations of Tuesday’s markets.
Shellady: “Let’s just say all good on the green. Kinda of a both sides day today for both corn and wheat ended up higher. Let’s say wheat up two and corn up 2 and 1/2 and beans were up 17 and 3/4 — about 8 cents above the $10 level. Like I said - decent demand we’re fighting off these dollar stories that dollar was weaker today — that will have something to do with it. And we were just kind of buoyed by maybe a deal being done in Greece so that kind of turned around the equities market as well as the oil market. So with the oil market turning around, so did the commodities here.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Tuesday up 2 and 1/2 cents at 5-31 and 3/4. May corn ended the day up 2 and 1/2 cents at 3-97 and 3/4.
Portland March prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to up 2 and 3/4 cents ranging between 6-68 and 6-71 and 3/4. White club wheat of ordinary protein had no price comparisons. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down a half of a cent at mostly 6-69 and 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 1 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-78 and 3/4.
April live cattle were down $2.50 on Tuesday at 150-72 and half. April Feeder cattle were down $2.52 and half at 200-72 and half. April class III milk was up 59 cents at 15-79.
