New Pear Marketing Director
Pear Bureau Northwest has added a new member to the fold. Kathy Stephenson has joined the company as Marketing Communications Director.
STEPHENSON: You know I come with a long history of just great, classic marketing experience so looking a the opportunities where we had to communicate the wonders of the pear and finding the best way to reach our target customer. I think I bring a lot of passion for agriculture having grown up and currently live in a agriculture community. That's definitely been a place that I'm looking forward to working more completely.
Stephenson formerly had her own marketing agency where she worked with a number of produce related businesses. Some of the messaging won't change though.
STEPHENSON: We're always increasing our opportunities for communicating ripeness for pears. People need to understand how to enjoy their pear at the perfect, juicy, healthy, sweet point and for us to to continue to communicate how to check the neck of the pear and if you press it just slightly and you can tell if that pear is ready to eat.
But there are some challenges as well.
STEPHENSON: We are in some record pear crops in the last few years so we've enjoyed the opportunity to try to help our growers and shippers move more pears so the thing that concerns me the most is when we face a year when our product isn't as successful as it is in the last few years
That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
