Black Bear Hunters Kill Grizzly Bear.

The Idaho Department of Fish & Game is investigating the killing of an 11-year old male grizzly bear by black bear hunters on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.  The incident occurred on the Caribou-Targhee Forest, just off of the Cave Falls Road in Idaho.   Both black and grizzly bears are known to frequent the area just outside of the southwest corner of Yellowstone National Park. Fish and Game’s Gregg Losinski: “Was this a hunting mistake or intentional? That is what is under investigation right now. The fact that these were legal bear hunters in a legal bear hunting area for black bears, the area is adjacent to Yellowstone National Park so of coarse, we have both black and grizzly bears in the area. They did report that they had shot a grizzly bear to us so that is where the investigation is. So at least they confessed. Yes and that is very important. In any situation where there is a grizzly bear or an elk or a white tail with mistaken identity, if you make a mistake call us up right away. When you try to hide things or bring other people into it, that is when it does turn into a crime. There are mistakes and then there is intention.
