USPB Surveys Growers With Positive Results

Every five years the United States Potato Board survey growers about their perceptions of the board and their policies.

Using the USPB data base a representative sample of the all potato growers in the United States were surveyed to determine trends in five areas. David Fraser, USPB Vice President Industry Communications and Policy, shares the 2014 survey’s positive results.

Fraser: “The big news for this survey was that the ratings of the USPB improved from our survey in the 2005 through 2009 and then through 2014. In 2014 for overall support 88 percent of the growers rated the job being done by the UPSB as excellent or good. With excellent ratings doubling from 13 percent in 2009 to 27 percent in 2014. So that is tremendous. Obviously we are doing something right. The message is getting out to the industry that USPB programs are working and are successful in building demand for potatoes and potato products domestically and globally.”

Though pleased — rest assured — the USPB will be examining ways to continue to improve their organization.
