Supervisor U. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Good leaders make for good workers and a productive operation. That’s why the Washington Farm Labor Association is offering their latest leadership training according to Dan Fazio.

FAZIO: We all know that every grower will tell you that a good crew leader can make or break an operation, and most growers will also admit to you that there is a lot of leadership training that needs to be done for these important employees and not a lot that is being done right now. So we talked to many growers and professionals who serve growers and they confirmed that more needs to be done.

Fazio says after they talked with crop consultants, GS Long, he says they came up with the Supervisor Leadership University.

FAZIO: We are offering a full day of leadership, motivational, and basic human resources law concepts for crew leaders and it’s during the first week in April. We have two instructors – Cosme Sanchez, a respected trainer from the Central Valley in California, and Ermelindo Escobedo, from right here in Washington.  Both of these guys have been teaching motivational and leadership training for many years, and more importantly, both are former farm workers who have advanced degrees and extensive HR training.
