There is a reason that organizations become number one. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a football team, a corporation, a country, a state or a commodity group. We’ll get a look at that reason right now.

As a state Idaho is always known for its potato production but that exclusivity is fast being approached by other commodities such as corn and barley. As a matter of fact, we recently reported that we are the number one barley producing state and Kelly Olsen, the administrator for the Idaho Barley Commission, gives us an exclusive peek into the reasons for our success. “What we focus on and what makes us feel good about our achievements is that every year we are working hard from the producer, to the industry which is very aggressive in offering contracts, and to the organizations that support both of them, that includes the Barley Commission and our University of Idaho and our agriculture research scientists that are providing new varieties that are high yielding and good quality and working on agronomic production challenges, so we are all doing our part.
