My friend Bill Ahaus is a very involved bee keeper and has served as a wonderful information resource for the last 4 years. Whenever a bee related story comes up I try and turn to Bill for information. ... There was a story about bees and meetings in the paper the other day so I called Bill up to get the skinny. Well as is always the case, one thing led to another and Bill came up with a great story about somebody who he met at one of the meetings. “This particular guy told the 1st meeting that he was an organic beekeeper. He did not use any chemicals on his bees. The way he did that once he would kill him in the fall. He would harvest the honey, kill the bees and then start all over again with a new batch of bees in the spring. He did not have to keep them alive over the winter. It was a shocking angle and the people at the meeting did not like that.”
