Wheat Down Slightly
I'm KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for October 7, 2013. ?December wheat closed 2 1/4 cents lower on the session Friday and this left the market up just 4 cents on the week. A From the floor of the CME Group, Frank Lesh shares his observations of Friday's markets.
Lesh: "Friday's grain trade mixed markets here -- we had corn was up 4 cents and wheat down about 3 cents. As this is Friday's trade we look at where we ended the week at, corn was down about 9 cents on the week and wheat was up about 3 cents on the week. So not a lot of big changes. A lot of traders remain long wheat and short corn on the spreads. We saw that wheat spread out about $2.50 in here. No where near the worse we've ever seen that or the highest we've ever seen it. We were out about $4 back in 2010 and years before that we were at as wide as $8 spread between wheat to corn. So I guess there is still some room for that spread to move out."
Chicago December Wheat ended Friday down 2 and 1/4 cents at 6-87. December corn ended the day up 4 cents at 4-43 and 1/4.??I won't be able to provide Portland prices until government services resume.
?December live cattle were up 65 cents Friday at 132-42 and half. November Feeder cattle were up 32 and half cents at 165-95. November class III milk was up 8 cents at 17-98.
