Wheat Lower Under Pressure

Wheat Lower Under Pressure

I'm KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for September 23, 2013.

On Friday the market traded sharply lower on the day into the mid-session and gave back all of Thursday's gains and more. Weakness in the other grains and a lack of support from outside markets helped to pressure the market. From the floor of the CME Group, Greg Wagner shares his observations of Friday's markets.

Wagner: "Friday's grain trade you see pressure across the board corn, soybeans, wheat -- everything closing under pressure and near the session lows. Now going into next week given the fact that we ended on a sour note there is going to be a question as to how much follow through we get before we start getting traction here."

Chicago December Wheat ended Friday down 10 and 3/4 cents at 6-46 and 1/4. December corn ended the day down 8 and 1/2 cents at 4-51.??Portland prices for soft white wheat were down 5 and 3/4 to 7 cents at mostly 6-97 and 1/2. White club wheat prices were down 5 and 1/2 to 10 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-26 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11.5 pct protein prices were down 9 and 3/4 to 14 and 1/4 cents at mostly 8-05 and 3/4. DNS wheat with 14 pct protein did not issue bids for nearby delivery.

?October live cattle were up 2 and half cents Friday at 125-95. October Feeder cattle were up 85 cents at 160-22 and half. October class III milk was up 9 cents at 18-09.
