Better Fries, Better Results for Wendy's in Honduras

In addition to pursuing new markets for U.S. potato products, the United States Potato Board also educates retailers and processors from around the globe about switching their supplier to begin purchasing U.S. potatoes through their educational program Why Buy U.S.

United States Potato Board International Marketing Manager for the Frozen program Susan Weller shares an recent example of a retailer making the switch to U.S. frozen potatoes

Weller: “We’ve been working in Honduras and Wendy’s in Honduras actually open their first store in 1991 and have about 35 stores. At the beginning they were purchasing product from Canada but as of this last April they changed their supplier and are now buying U.S.”

Weller explains that the Why Buy U.S. educational program has really helped prospective buyers understand the benefits of purchasing U.S. potatoes. She gives several reasons why retailers make the choice to switch to U.S. potatoes.

Weller: “From the Why Buy program but as well as from the support we have from onsite engineers but basically they stated that the change was due to the high quality of the U.S. potatoes and they have been very satisfied with the change.”
