 Want to give your soil a serious facelift? I found a fabulous product for all Ag producers. Here’s Wayne Tucker, scientist and spokesperson for the product called BioSi: “It is an organically certified soil inoculate that helps rebuild the soil. It helps reduce crusting, improves water infiltration, fertilizer efficiency, but the real thing that it does is it helps rebuild the humus factor in the soil. That is where water and nutrients are held. A lot of people still refer to it as organic matter. In my mind, organic matter is what the microbes use to build humus.  We are putting the living fraction of the soil back again, not that we don’t have a lot of microbes out there,  it’s just that over the past 50, 60, 70 years or whatever, we have pounded them with every kind of fertilizer and chemicals and they have lost the ability to produce the enzymes and help keep the soil healthy like they used to 70 to 80 years ago. When we plow our field today, we don’t get that good earthy smell and we actually bring that back if not the first year, the second year. When the farmer plows his land he can actually smell the earth again. Plus it enhances the plant’s roots. We really don’t talk about production because production is totally linked into the amount of fertilizer or as I call it, the groceries in the soil. it is kind of like growing a ballet dancer or a football player, one is going to need a lot more than the other.”
