Caring Cowboys Beef Counts
I had a great conversation with Laurie Lickley about a worthy and fun cause: As a non-profit organization, Caring Cowboys is dedicated to preserving the Western Lifestyle by conducting charitable activities and supporting local ag charities, events, and people. Kick-off Live Remote at Stampede Burger in Gooding on Wednesday August 14 from 4-6 pm. The event begins Sunday August 18 at 2:00 p.m. with a cash-only Cowboy Auction and Live and Cowboy Auction. Last year’s items include raft trips, autographed shirts, etc. Last year’s event brought in over 40 of the PRCA Cowboys in the nation including Tuf Cooper, Fred Whitfield, Cody Ohl, Jake Hannum, Blair Burke, Matt Shiozawa, just to name a few. The first three rounds begin at 3pm followed by the top 12 ropers in the short go.
- All proceeds benefit Beef Counts, Idaho’s Beef Industry United Against Hunger
- Since 2010, Beef Counts has provided over 500,000 3oz servings of nutritious, high quality beef to the Idaho Foodbank
- Recognizing that nearly 1 in 6 Idahoans, and 1 in 4 children, are food insecure or worried where their next meal may come from.
- Idaho Beef Producers recognize not only their contribution to Idaho’s economy but the rural communities and wanted to create a program that would supply a consistent supply beef and nutritional information to the Idaho Foodbank and the people they serve an average of 116,000 times per month.
- Proceeds from last year’s event distributed over 35,000 3oz. servings of beef to the Idaho Foodbank, including mobile pantries in Wendell and Kimberly.
- Entries are open until August 12 by calling Timi Lickley at 208.280.2496
