Farm Labor Seminars

Farm Labor Seminars

Farm Labor Seminars. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Line On Agriculture.

Labor is an issue that is heating up all across the U.S. and Dan Fazio, with Washington Farm Labor Association says they are getting ready to help employers next week and they are compiling 2 to 4 page management briefings on the top labor issues.

FAZIO: And then what we’;re going to do is review those briefings with employers over breakfast or lunch. We have taken 5 topics, and we have prepared a 15 minute brief on each topic to go along with the write up, and then we provide the briefing sheet and a nice breakfast or lunch and we’re going to go out to all the local agriculture areas across the state.

There will be a total of 10 Breakfast Briefing/Labor Lunches.

FAZIO: So it’s your basic roadshow for agricultural employers. What you get is a management briefing sheet, an explanation from an expert and a good breakfast.

And Fazio talks about some of the topics to be discussed.

FAZIO: We have a CPA from Moss Adams providing the absolute latest in how to comply with Obamacare.  Then a briefing on immigration reform and we’ll fly people in from different areas of the country to talk about that issue   Then a series of management briefings on 3 hot labor issues – the Department of Labor hot goods issue, the EEOC sexual harassment issue, and then changes in the WA state farm labor contractor law that were caused by a really unfortunate court decision.

That’s today’s Line On Agriculture. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
