7-8 IAN Meat Store

 The Meat House is the Whole Foods of beef. With a new concept that involves kind of a local butcher in a very high-end store, and about 30 stores nationwide, I called Idaho Cattlemen’s Association executive director, Wyatt Prescott, and asked him his reaction. “Every market channel is an advantage to the US beef industry because they are moving that product and folks that want to try to find those animals closer to home and source them closer that’s great. We in Idaho have to keep in mind that we are better at our job then our people could ever support. There are 2 1/2 million head of  beef cattle In our state and only one and a half million people. Unless you are planning on eating at minimum to head this year, then that really is not going to support  or sustain our markets and quite frankly our country as a whole is that way. We produce the highest quality beef and we do not have as many high-quality customers as we need to  sustain that across our country but back to the notion of being able to buy more closely and enjoy local beef I think it is great if there is a market for that. A side note all of this, I have grown quite an affinity to these high-end meat shops because we have a high-end product and it excites me to see our high-end products showcased in a high-end manner.
