CORN GROWERS FROM NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA FORM ALLIANCE

There is an increasing number of producers who are turning to corn in Idaho. Of course you can grow corn till the cows come home but if you can’t find a market, for example cows or people, then it is an exercise in futility. Enter the US Grains Council which is trying to take our corn growing efforts in an international direction. A memorandum of understanding was signed Tuesday to form an alliance of North and South American maize producers. U.S. Grains Council President and CEO Tom Sleight says the U.S. Grains Council, National Corn Growers Association, MAIZAR and ABRAMILHO will function under the name MAIZALL - The International Maize Alliance. “ It is an agreement between the corn producers of Argentina, Brazil and the United States to work more closely together in order to reach out to the world and to our customers and talk about modern agriculture. That includes food security, the roles that biotechnology and environmental stewardship and the ability to get modern farmers to meet those needs of the world. But the main idea is to coordinate communications and speak with a more united voice as producers to the rest of the world.
