 With the whole locavore movement, with a national preoccupation of knowing where your food comes from, with an increasing number of people going organic, there is also a growing number of people who want to raise bees. If you want to get into a wonderful hobby that will produce delicious “home made” honey, you may want to think about starting your own bee  colony. In order to do that, you may want to get a little education 1st. According to longtime bee keeper and  bee club administrator Bill Ahaus, you can learn a lot at bee school: “Bee school is everything from bee biology,  to plants and how plants produce nectar,  how bees fly and gather nectar, pollen, how they have one queen bee, even to things like what places would like to situate your bee hive so they can get sunshine in order to warm them up in the morning, keeping them away from traffic where they might become a problem for motorists, so it is all things bee. Yes. You even get into things like what do you do if you have more honey than you can use, there is the farmers market or craigslist, all kinds of things.
