5-6 IAT EPA Provokes
Five dairies in Washington are being sued over their manure. It is being called hazardous waste.
I can’t count the times that I actually went to a store like Home Depot or Zamzow’s and paid for bags of cow manure to fertilize plants in my yard. It worked great and the tomatoes were delicious. Now 5 dairies in Yakima, Washington are being sued with the allegation that they are dumps which operate in a manner to cause an imminent and substantial endangerment to human health and environment. I talked with Executive Director of the Idaho Dairyman’s Association Bob Naerbout: “ Has this country gone off its axis? Dairy manure is as old as time. People have been using it as a nutrient for hundreds of years. Now it is a hazardous waste? It is a product that in both raw form and compost form is used to fertilize crops. it has extreme value. I don’t think the country has gone crazy but obviously our environmental groups that are, quite frankly, opposed to livestock and animal agriculture and they use every little nugget they can to try and make things occur. Our listeners have to know that this original lawsuit is filed with a direct correlation to the EPA agreement that the EPA brought against these 5 dairies. There is a direct connection with the EPA, not that they are a part of it but some of their actions encourage environmental groups like this to file lawsuits and that also should be a concern to our listeners.”
