Taste Washington. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

This weekend is one of the premiere wine events in the country and it highlights really the best that the state has to offer when it comes to food and drink according to Erica Waliser, Communications Manager with the Washington State Wine Commission.

WALISER: The Washington State Wine Commission started producing it 16 years ago to get the winemakers of Seattle to pour their new releases. There’s 225 wineries now that pour at Taste Washington. We also have cider makers coming and pouring cider as well as even some beer this year. And then this year we have more restaurants serving food than ever before.

Taste gets underway on Saturday & Sunday at CenturyLink Field Events Center.

WALISER: You can find out more information at TasteWashingon.org. So there’s tickets for Saturday and Sunday. There’s the general admission times 2pm to 5pm both Saturday and Sunday and then the VIP ticket times are 1 to 5, you get an hour earlier, you get a VIP swag bag, you get access to the Tulalip Casino VIP area that’ll have special winemaker pourings and giveaways.

Of course you must be 21 or over to attend. There are also some great seminars.

WALISER: For anyone who wants to learn more about wine and beer and cider. So we have seminars Saturday and Sunday that start at 11 and go till 12:30. We have a great intro to wine in the World of Wine seminar this year and that’s on Saturday. It’s only $25.
