 Glanbia CEO Jeff Williams certainly has a handle on the dairy business given that he runs a major cheese manufacturing business. He is very bullish on the future of the dairy industry in Idaho. ” I get accused of being the eternal optimist more than a lot of people but I think the dairy industry is poised for good growth going forward because I think we are going to be the exporter of choice around the world for cheese and skim milk powder and things like that because we have the infrastructure here, we have the ability to produce more milk than we currently do compared to a lot of other countries. We can produce no a lot cheaper than other places.”

And what about the future of the dairy business specifically in Idaho? “ If you were considering moving out of California or the Southwest, Idaho was not on your radar in the past but it certainly is now and we have heard a number of stories recently where a hand full of dairymen from California and other places are looking at Idaho and saying that this would be a good place to milk cows so we are very bullish on the future of the dairy industry in Idaho.”
