2-27 SS Silvers Riff

2-27 SS Silvers Riff

I love going into a store, asking a representative a question and getting a great answer.

Keith McDowell is the Manager of the fishing department at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Puyallup, Washington. I got him on the phone the other day, and asked him what might be fun to go fishing for. Let’s say this. He was not at a loss for ideas or information. The Riff Lake fishery is coming up and I used to fish that 100 days per year. What were you fishing for? Riff Lake Is a huge reservoir about 1 hour south of here that is full of land- locked silvers. They don’t get real big they are probably anywhere from half pound upwards to 3 pounds. They are very tasty. I still believe it is a 5 fish limit. For gear we usually run downriggers and we will pull the 9 inch hotspot flashers  for the sling blades from Shasta Tackle behind them anywhere from 12 to 18 inches. Attached to that, can do a multitude of things. I would either run a Dick Knight or I would run one of Rocky Mountain Tackle’s signature squids. Basically it is a mini hoochie with a dual hook rig and tip it with a piece of shrimp, some shoe peg corn or maggots or whatever we can get our hands on. Any of the 3 of those is an awesome combination and some guys I know, tip it with all of them.
