12-24 SS Girl's Elk
Katie gets an elk… her 3 male colleagues don’t. I’m just going to introduce Katie whose 14 and let her tell her story. “It’s my 1st time out hunting, I have gone deer hunting but I thought elk hunting would be harder. I was the lucky one. We were road hunting, me, my boyfriend Nick, my dad and my brother. We saw some elk one ridge over, they all jumped out and started shooting and I was the driver so I didn’t get a shot but they all missed. They all ran over the hill and we jumped back in the truck and headed that way seeing if that we could maybe find them. We kind of drove around this hillside and spooked them back towards where they had come from. We came up on them and we all jumped out of the truck again and my dad posted me up against a rest against this tree. I shot and got the bigger one on my 1st try. I wasn’t nervous because I had been hunting before but as soon as I approached her I was in shock because she was so huge and I had mainly only been around deer but it was really, really exciting. Here you are with 3 men, they all miss, and you get the elk. Yes (laughter).
