USPB Reverse Trade and Chip Stock Symposium

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the U.S. Potato Update.

This fall the United States Potato Board hosted a reverse trade mission for Central American snack manufactures. During their week tour, USPB also hosted a symposium for chip stock growers and shippers which provided the opportunity for them to visit with the reverse trade mission’s participants.

Sarah Reece, USPB International Marketing Manager, shares more

Reece: “The symposium is an opportunity for U.S. chip stock growers and shippers meet with participants that are visiting for the reverse trade mission. The symposium is a full day event that includes presentations from Central America and on the opportunities there. Then we also have presentations on chip stock industry issues that are presented by U.S. experts. So we held the one day event and it was an excellent opportunity for buyers and sellers to meet and there was a lot of good interaction at that event.”

Reece says that the reverse trade mission was very well received by participants and has already netted one new U.S. chip stock customer.

Reece: “The participants were really impressed with what we had to show them. And since the reverse trade mission, one snack manufacturer from Nicaragua start importing U.S. chipping potatoes for their production. And because the symposium and reverse trade mission just happened, we hope we will see additional sales from other participants in the next few months.”

This was the U.S. Potato Update brought to you by the United States Potato Board, maximizing return on grower investment.
