Idaho Steelheads Partner with Idaho Beef Producers to Honor Military Hero
Lance Cpl. Joey Lowe, a Marine, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Husband, Teacher, Role Model and Mentor will be honored on Saturday, Dec. 22nd at the Century Link Arena Steelheads game against the Las Vegas Wranglers. The Beef Producers of Idaho, through the Idaho Beef Council and a partnership with the Idaho Steelheads are proud to Honor Lance Cpl. Joey Lowe as the Idaho Steelheads Military Hero of The day. Here’s Traci Bracco, Executive Director, Idaho Beef Council: “Joey Lowe was paralyzed from the chest down on May 8, 2005, when a 600 pound bomb was detonated and blew up the M1A1 tank that he and 3 others were in.“ His truly inspiring story includes his new found abilities to compete in hand cycle races, Marine Core Warrior Games, as well as sit skiing and water skiing. Joey coaches a wheelchair sports camp for kids, volunteers as a mentor to high school students and teaches sit-skiing to other disabled Veterans. Joey welcomes the opportunity to speak freely about his life in hopes of inspiring those around him.
Joey will be recognized on ice at the start of the Steelheads game by dropping the ceremonial first puck.
