11-12 SS Mike's Ibex

Pursuing an Ibex in Mongolia. That is not your every day hunt but we are going to hear from a master hunter who did just that, next.

Mike Eastman has spent his entire life as a hunter. His experiences range all over America, but, unlike so many of us Whitetail, upland bird and waterfowl type hunters, Mike has spent considerable time in Africa and Asia in pursuit of that pastime that he loves most. “I persuaded my 2 sons to go to Mongolia to hunt Ibex. Back when I was 12 years old I read a book called  North of the sun, East of the moon by Kermit Roosevelt and I always wanted to go to Mongolia and I’m getting too old but I talked them into it and we went over there hunting Ibex. The country actually looks a lot like Wyoming and we were hunting at 10 to 11,000 feet and it was quite an experience from where we got off at a dirt strip from an airplane we had to go 250 miles in a Russian Jeep on a dirt road to the camp and from there we went out from anywhere to 2 to 3 hours to where we would hunt. It was extremely isolated. Guy and I harvested 2 really good ones and Ike took a big one that would be equivalent of a 32 inch mule deer. A really good Ibex.
