11-8 SS Veteran's Day
A patriot who cares. I’m David Sparks with Sportsmen’s Spotlight and in observance of Veterans Day this coming Sunday, I had a chat with the founder of the Eastman’s Hunting Journals, Mike Eastman, a patriot and veteran of the Vietnam War who served 2 tours. “I was with the 27th Engineers which was attached to the 101st Airborne, the 2nd time I stayed over there and volunteered and was a door gunner. Were you in one of those old Hueys? Yes I was in a gunship. Like most veterans you don’t want to talk about it. The Vietnam veterans came back and they were not appreciated very much so most of us still have that stigma and we don’t talk much. I started this way back when I owned the company, when soldiers 1st went to Desert Storm. You can send in a subscription and we knock it down to $8 and it goes into a fund and out of that fund we send subscriptions over to military people who are in combat zones. The reason that I started that, this is before anybody did. When I was over there I had a bow hunters magazine and I kept that in my pack until it wore out. I kept looking at it to remind me what it was like, as we used to call it, back in the world. So because of that, I started this program. Anybody out there can send in $8 which is one third of what our subscription costs and it goes in a special fund and we send out not only subscriptions but DVDs, and all kinds of stuff to these warriors in combat zones. I guarantee you that they are over there and often wonder whether anybody cares over here.
