Welcome to Open Range, I’m Susan Allen. Stay tuned because after the break I’ll check in with our field reporter, Greg Martin for the AgriBeef Minute.

I’m Greg Martin with today’s AgriBeef Minute. A few weeks ago we talked with author, marathoner and motivational speaker Dane Rauschenberg about the importance of beef to his running.

RAUSCHENBERG: I grew up in a meat and potatoes family. We ate lots of lean beef growing up and I think it’s one of the reasons why, not only am I able to accomplish the feats but I am able to - and this is the most important part - recover from one of them and move on to the next.

In 2006 Rauschenberg made headlines by completing 52 marathons in 52 weeks.

RAUSCHENBERG: I ran my fastest marathon not only of the entire year but my entire life up to that point in the 42nd week of the year; nearly 90% done with the entire year I was still running the fastest I had ever run in my life which is what really grabs people in the running worlds attention.

He says he likes to get with like minded people and that’s why he’s a part of Team Beef.

RAUSCHENBERG: To combat basically the misinformation and the incorrect knowledge that people think they have about beef is a two-fold success story in my opinion. You get not only the camaraderie of the people but you get also to notice that you’re not alone out there. Not only with the athletics but also with Team Beef.

I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m Susan Allen.
