How many of the hundreds of hundreds of farmers and ranchers fighting  drought conditions throughout this great nation do you really  think  are offended that USDA Secretary told the President that  he gets down on his knees each day and prays for rain?  Well apparently he has raised the gall of atheists I’m Susan Allen stay tuned  Open Range is next. The Council For Secular Humanism, one of our country’s largest atheist groups has requested that the White House have USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack refrain from saying that he “gets on his knees everyday to pray for rain to end the drought.” It angered the group that Vilsack  told President Obama on July 18 that he " prayed each day to alleviate stress on crops and livestock” that are in the midst of one of the largest national droughts since 1956. Tom Flynn executive director for the group called Vilsack’s admission of prayer “the wrong message to send to distraught farmers and also that Vilsack saying that he prays  "depicts the  government publically practicing religion”.  Farmers and ranchers in crisis appreciate prayer and should be aware that that on the  Council For Secular Humanism’s website they hypocritically advocate free speech yet here they are working to take away an individual’s  right to say even say that  he prays.  I would also imagine that the thousands of farmers and ranchers on the receiveing end of  Vilsack’s daily prayers  might want to exercise  their own right of  free speech by letting  Mr. "Atheist," Tom Flynn know how they  really feel, his email is  tflynn@centerforinquiry.net
