Welcome to Open Range, I’m Susan Allen. Stay tuned because after the break I’ll check in with our field reporter, Greg Martin for the AgriBeef Minute.

I’m Greg Martin with today’s AgriBeef Minute. Bethanie Powell with Rosauers Supermarket talks about an upcoming event featuring some delicious beef products.

POWELL: Cowboy Cookoff is an event that’s going to take place on July 21st and it’s actually at Rosauers here in Meridian, (ID). It’s with AgriBeef and the Idaho Beef Council and they’re going to be cooking out some samples. We’re going to have an actual live steer or calf and cow. We’re going to have a prize wheel, we’re going to be doing just lots of samples.

There will also be some fun activities for the kids. Powell says they really want to help educate the public on beef.

POWELL: Obviously having local products, the local producers of the northwest. Being able to educate people on the quality of product that we have. That we’re USDA Choice beef and the different techniques of cooking. AgriBeef is going to have some different chefs come in and make some different samples.

And of course once you sample the beef you can grab a package of the cuts right there.

POWELL: We’re going to be sampling out petite sirloin and tri-tip. For those people who haven’t tried the different cuts of meat they’ll be able to see the different techniques. You know obviously it’s focused on grilling and be able to see what we have available here in- house.

I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m Susan Allen.
