Winerywise

Winerywise™. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Winery owners and winery workers should be aware of a new tool designed to assist you and your operation. Judy Thoet is the technical editor for a new website called Winerywise™, a guide for sustainable winery practices.

THOET: It basically was a grassroots effort. It began in 2007 and the goal was to develop a companion guide to the Washington Vineyard Sustainability guide which is called Vinewise. We wanted to develop the same type of educational guide for people who were making wine.

You can find the site at www.winerywise.org.

THOET: The goal for Winerywise™ was to develop a free educational guide on winery sustainability practices. And the other thing that was unique about it was that we wanted it to be written by winemakers, for winemakers.

Thoet says they are presenting several upcoming sessions to introduce Winerywise™.

THOET: We’ve got three outreach sessions and we’ve entitled them, “How To Winerywise™” and they are scheduled for late July across Washington State. We’ve got one July 25 in Walla Walla, July 26th we’re in Grandview and July 31 we’re in Woodinville and they’re free. You do have a $25 session fee but as long as you actually attend the session then you will have that fee refunded to you.

More tomorrow on the new Winerywise™ web site.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
