I’m Susan Allen hey I don’t usually talk much about cooking on Open Range, once in a while beef cuts  but today I have a  cookbook to recommend so stay tuned. I received a very cool Mother’s Day gift called Bring ‘ Em On Home a collection of recipes from our top rodeo cowboys and their families compiled  Bonnie  Beers and her  Daughter- in Law Kimber of Powell Butte Oregon, wife of NFR Team roper Brandon Beers. The cookbook was created not only to share recipes but to provide a peak  at the professional rodeo athlete and their strong sense of  what we call “Cowboy and Family”.  In the forward Bonnie and Kimber explain that Bring Em on home is also full of  stories and photos passed down from generations . In their words “What keeps cowboys and cowgirls going down the road and most importantly what is bringing them home.”  Because cowboys and cowgirls are mobile living on the road  or working outside moving cattle most of  the recipes are not only mouthwatering but simple,  with names like  Easy Blackberry Cobbler from the Raymond family out of Paulina Oregon or the Brazile’s  Family’s Sticky Buns of which it is said that “Trevor has a love hate relationship. He loves to eat them, hates to share them.”  Red Steagall dare  you to try his Tijuana tidbits, I am whipping some up this weekend.  If you want a copy of  Bring’ em on home visit their website at bringemonhome.com , I think it’s great part of the purchase price is donated to the Justin Crisis Fund  that helps cowboys and their families in the event of catastrophic injuries.
