Fontelis Part 2

Fontelis Part 2

Fontelis Part 2. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Powdery mildew is a problem for orchardists here in the northwest and if you are looking for a new product to help solve that problem, Bond McInnes, technical product development manager with DuPont Crop Protection may have the answer in Fontelis fungicide.

MCINNES: We felt like if we developed a very powerful active ingredient without premixes, just a single AI, that gives you a lot of flexibility to develop the program you need to be successful. Each grower is slightly different. They may have insecticides they want to mix or nutritionals or adjuvants and so our product has the flexibility because we’re not locked into premixes.

That means you are very flexible on the rate for the best performance and you can choose the best tank mix partner to meet your needs. He says they have received their registration for Fontelis.

MCINNES: We received our full federal registration on Leap Day, February 29 and the states really pulled that through very rapidly to get those key states. Obviously Washington, Oregon, northeast U.S. but really focusing on those tree crops in the key markets.

McInnes says they have seen really good results with Fontelis.

MCINNES: We’ve seen really consistent results in our university trials over the last five years and last year we did a number of grower trials where we sort of scaled up and we were beating the best competitors 100% of the time in terms of providing performance and what the real thing is on our tree crops is that quality of the fruit; the yield.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
