3-19 FB Raw Milk
Raw milk may turn into a raw deal. Let the buyer beware. You know about a year ago, I did a story on raw milk from a producer who intimated that drinking standard dairy production milk was the worst thing anybody could do. This guy was a nice guy and committed to his theory but in the back of my mind I also thought he might have attended Woodstock, if you know what I mean. Well, this just in from Science Daily. Raw Milk Is a Dangerous Raw Deal for Farmers and Consumers, Experts Say. Health officials in Pennsylvania recently said at least 35 people in four states were struck with a bacterial infection after drinking un-pasteurized "raw" milk. At the same time, a New Jersey legislative committee approved a bill to allow raw milk sales in that state. An expert in New Jersey had this to say: "Farms risk losing a lot, including the farm, for the few dollars more they get when selling raw milk. There is currently a lawsuit in Washington for $2.4 million as a result of raw milk illness, so there is a liability when an illness can be traced to a farm.”  I was under the impression that Louis Pasteur was in the history books as a good man who had invented pasteurization.
