Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. Because it's just not worth drinking a wine that I don't really like.
So many wines so little time. There are many new wines on the market and sometimes it distracts us from drinking wines that we have enjoyed in the past. For me one group of wines, that I consistently enjoy, are the wines made by Brian Carter at Apex in Sunnyside, Washington. Brian has been making wines for decades and he is truly a master. What I love about his Apex wines is that he doesn't hide the fruit. His well honed restraint, when it comes to the use of oak, is something that sets his wines apart. I always enjoy the true varietal quality of the wines rather than the oak blast that we are so accustomed to these days. Another bonus of the Apex wines are that they are released after they have spent a considerable time aging in the bottle. Another attribute that is rare amongst most wineries these days. But it doesn't stop there. I am consistently pleased with how well the reds continue to age in my own cellar. The fruit is always dense and serious with layers of smells and flavors. The acid is well balanced and tannins are a perfect stage for the fruit. If you are looking for these wines don't hesitate to ask your local wine merchant. They are available throughout most of the country. If you have problems finding them call the winery or visit their website and ask where the wines can be found. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's vine to wine.
