Noxious Weed Control Meetings & RMA Sales Closure Dates

Noxious Weed Control Meetings & RMA Sales Closure Dates

The Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board holds bi-monthly meetings, which are open to the public. The March 12 meeting is tentatively scheduled for 9 am. and will be online through GoToMeeting. All class A weeds must be added to county lists according to RCW 17.10. Counties have the option to select the Class C weeds for mandatory control at the local level. This year all counties have added Oriental clematis, a species that is capable of forming dense infestations that can over run native shrubs and ground covers. A reminder, the Washington Weed Free Hay and Mulch Management Program and certification, which was formerly ran by the WSNWCB, is now handled by the WSDA’s Plant Services Program.

USDA’s Risk Management Agency wants to remind producers of the upcoming MPCI closure dates in March. RMA’s Jo Lynne Seufer gives the particulars.

SEUFER: March 15th is a big sales closing date for our Pacific Northwest producers. It’s the final date to obtain or change your spring seeded crops for the 2012 crop year and it’s also the final date for producers of a brand new Adjusted Gross Revenue policy Lite for the upcoming crop year.

The RMA highly recommends that growers contact their crop insurance agent by sales closing dates in order to learn how MPCI protection might augment their current year’s risk management decisions.
