2-10 FB Snow Outlook
Water Experts are to Assess the Water Supply at a February Meeting. January brought heavy snow storms across the state, but was it enough to brighten the water supply outlook? The Idaho Department of Water Resources invites interested parties to come to the Water Supply Committee meeting and find out about the current snow pack and the water supply outlook. Water managers and hydrology experts will meet in Boise on Thursday, February 9, 2012.I asked spokesperson Liz Cresto for a prediction: “We’ve improved from the 1st of the month with that big snow and rain event so that looks good. But is that enough? We could always use a little bit more. We are not at 100% of our average for most of the basins throughout the state. We would still like to increase the snowpack up through April. We have a little bit to go and are hopeful that we get a little bit more precipitation. The Idaho Water Supply Committee meeting will cover topics that include weather, flooding, climate, reservoir operation, river flows, and snowpack. The committee includes water managers and hydrology experts from state and federal agencies and the private sector. The meeting is open to the public and will take place at the Idaho Department of Water Resources headquarters at the Idaho Water Center in downtown Boise.
