Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program deadline
Washington Ag Today December 13, 2011 Washington landowners interested in developing or improving wildlife habitat have until January 6, 2012 to apply for financial assistance through the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program, or WHIP. The program is administered by the Natural Resources Conservation Service and provides technical and financial assistance to private landowners and tribes for developing, restoring and enhancing fish and wildlife habitat. Landowners receive technical and financial assistance through two- to ten-year contracts. According to NRCS Acting Asst. State Conservationist, Lacey Gaw, WHIP program funds in Washington will be used on agricultural land and forest land where fish and wildlife habitat has been adversely affected by past activities or management. Now the Stockland Livestock Report. This is Jack McQuinness at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. 800 head of cows at our bred cow sale. Top of 1775 for the best of those falling calving cow-calf pairs. Most of that trade in the 15-hundred to 17-hundred dollar range. Top of 1650 for some good three-year old cows Saturday. Bred heifers selling from 13-hundred to 1450. Cows and bulls steady on Monday. Feeder cattle fully steady. A good run of weaned calves and plenty of takers for those calves weighing under 600 pounds. Our last sale of the year will be the 19th, a week from Monday. Then back on business on January 9th. Thanks Jack. I’m Bob Hoff and that’s Washington Ag Today on Northwest Aginfo Net.
