Right to Repair Deere Equipment and China Buying U.S. Soybeans
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with your Agribusiness Update.**John Deere is committing to giving farmers diagnostic tools to help them and independent service technicians repair equipment.
The agreement ends the matter filed by the Federal Trade Commission and five states in early 2025.
John Deere says it will continue investing in tools, technology, and services that give customers more ways to care for their equipment, doing the work themselves or through a repair provider.
**China, the largest buyer of U.S. soybeans, is once again placing orders after a trade agreement ended the country’s purchasing freeze last fall.
China stopped purchasing U.S. soybeans in 2025 during tariff negotiations with the Trump administration.
Bloomberg reports the White House said China agreed to buy at least $17 billion of agricultural products, in addition to 25 million tons of soybeans each year through 2028.
Beijing hasn’t confirmed those numbers.
**A major revision to U.S. beef export data is raising questions about government reporting, adding uncertainty to livestock markets.
The USDA sharply reduced previously reported late-June beef export sales after identifying data entry errors.
Reuters reports export sales were cut by nearly 90% after traders questioned unusually large purchases from countries like Chile and Italy.
This comes as U.S. cattle inventories remain near multi-decade lows and beef prices trade at historically high levels.
