Tree Top donates to WSU tree fruit programs

Washington Ag Today December 6, 2011 Tree Top Incorporated is investing 250-thousand dollars in tree fruit research, teaching and extension programs at Washington State University.

Tree Top CEO Tom Stokes says the grower owned cooperative’s participation in the Campaign for Washington State University is first and foremost about reinforcing the industry’s investment in WSU. Dan Bernardo, dean of the WSU College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, says the gift will help further cement a margin of excellence in tree fruit programs.

Last December, WSU announced it is in a one-billion dollar comprehensive fundraising effort: “The Campaign for Washington State University: Because the World Needs Big Ideas.” So far that campaign has raised over 638 million dollars.

Now the Stockland Livestock report.

“This is Jack McQuinness here at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. A good sale here Monday. 15-hundred head on the market. Replacement quality heifers, higher and higher. We were $1.35 to $1.40 on some of these six-weight heifers. Steers the same way. Fully steady market. Fully steady on cows and bulls. Don’t forget the big stock cow and bred heifer sale coming up this Saturday December 10th. We have some great fall calving cows. We will have a complete dispersion and a good number of bred cows and bred heifers. All here at Stockland. Thanks for listening.”

Thanks Jack.
