Simplot Closures & Reaching More Customers

Simplot Closures & Reaching More Customers. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

Bottom line for ag producers is being able to sell their products. Reaching consumers and connecting with them is very important for the agriculture industry - specifically farmers and ranchers. There are various ways for those in the ag industry to reach out - and AdFarm’s Kathryn Pinke says no way is wrong…

PINKE: Ultimately, if each of us have a different way that we are using to reach different audiences I think that’s the way to go because we are all saying slightly different things; we’re doing it a little bit differently because we’re reaching different audiences and different groups. Don’t criticize and shoot bullets at fellow colleagues and industry that might be doing it slight different.

Simplot Company is planning to begin building a new plant with hopes of having it up and running in the spring of 2014. But to do that they are planning to close their existing plants in Nampa, Aberdeen and Caldwell to build the new one. Employees were notified Wednesday morning of the closures. The new plant will employ 250 people, so there will not be job opportunities for some of the 800 displaced workers. Simplot is making the changes to stay competitive in the food industry market.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange report.
