Win For NW Agriculture
It’s about time, thanks to Seth Pratt University of Idaho student Northwest agricultural issues will receive more national attention. How does a freshman accompish that? I’m Susan Allen and this is Open Range I’ll tell you after the break. Western Region vice president Seth Pratt of Blackfoot Idaho a freshman at the U of I majoring in ag education was one of six National FFA officers elected at last week’s convention in Indianapolis. As Western Region vice president Seth is the first Idahoan in more than two decades to win a national FFA office. If you think learning the university ropes as a freshman is tough, well Prat’ts obviously able to handle pressure because his new VP position requires that he and other national officers travel collectively more than 100,000 miles this year to represent the organizations 540,379 student members in grades seven to 12 who belong to nearly 7,500 local FFA chapters in the U.S. Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. This experience, while sure to be a resume builder also reveals the character of this young man who says he has been involved in agriculture his whole life and in his acceptance speech said that “The values of hard work, honesty and family come from my rural lifestyle.” Congratulations to Seth Pratt from University of Idaho on this achievement but I have no doubt all of us here in the northwest ag community will benefit from it as well.
