10-25 IAN American Heart & Beef
One of the great culinary misunderstandings that we have as Americans, is that eating beef may not be as healthful as it is. The potato is often misunderstood because it is French fried or made into chips. But potatoes themselves are good for us. How about beef? It all depends on what you serve it with. You may be surprised.
I don’t know if there’s any greater endorsement for a food product than the American Heart Association. Well it turns out that this organization has recently teamed up with beef as the Executive Director of the Idaho Beef Council, Traci O’Donnell, explains. “Some other exciting news that we have today with lean beef is that soon you are going to start seeing the American Heart Association logo or the seal for the American Heart Association on select packages of lean beef items at the grocery store. This is a new partnership that has come about my off the beef checkoff this year and the nice thing about this is that consumers really respond to seeing that logo or that seal on a food item. It is very trusted and people feel very good about eating items when they see that. The items that will begin appearing are the almost top sirloin, the petite roast, the top sirloin filet, and the top sirloin kebab. This is great news for consumers and beef producers alike. We have more items to fit today’s consumer trends and the more successful we are with that the better our beef prices will be.”
