2012 workers' comp rates proposed
Washington Ag Today September 27, 2011 The Department of Labor and Industries has proposed a 2.5 percent average increase in workers’ compensation rates for 2012. For the agriculture classification the average increase is three percent, for forest products six percent and for food processing and manufacturing it’s five percent on average. Among those three classifications one of the largest proposed increases is the rate for grain, feed and flour mills at 12 percent. Public hearings on the proposed rates will be held in several locations in late October including Bellingham, Richland and Spokane Valley. Final rates will be adopted in early December. Now the Stockland Livestock report. This is Jack McQuinness at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. 600 cattle on the market Monday. Cows and bulls lower again. We were in the 50s on most of the cows with the best at 65 cents. Bulls topped at 83.50. Call that two to three lower as well. Good news on the feeder cattle market. We were two to three higher on all classes and weights. In the low nine-weights yearling steers as high as 1.22 and a half. Light weight steer calves under 500 pounds 1.35 to 1.50 Heifers of all weights and classes trading ten to 12 back of the steers. Big sale again next week and a big carload sale on October 8th. Thanks for your business. Stockland Livestock in Davenport. Thanks Jack. I’m Bob Hoff and that’s Washington Ag Today on Northwest Aginfo Net.
