Monitoring Moisture

Monitoring Moisture

Monitoring Moisture. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.??How much moisture does your field get compared to how much it needs? That is an on going question. Kind of the Goldilocks conundrum of too little, too much and just right. John Williamson, COO for PureSense has been marketing a product that helps ag producers find that “just right” spot.??WILLIAMSON: We’re focused on helping growers who are using irrigation in their fields to make more efficient use of their water and to drive better plant health through better irrigation decisions. Our customers like our product because it helps them not only drive high yield but reduce disease pressure and increase the overall quality of their crops. ??Since water is the biggest single influence on the success of your crops it is important to manage that water appropriately. Williamson says PureSense puts the knowledge in your hands.??WILLIAMSON: The way our solution works – it’s very hands on – we provide a service to our growers where we collect information in the field on soil moisture and climate and then we have a software application which is web-based so all the data comes back to our service and then the customer logs onto the internet and looks at their information and it can tell them basically a snapshot, real-time information on what their current plant available water is.??That allows for future water planning. ??WILLIAMSON: When the climate is changing rapidly or when crops are going through a fast growth stage it’s very difficult to determine exactly how much you should irrigate for so our tool takes the guess work out of irrigation.??Find them on the web at puresense.com. More tomorrow.??That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
